Mission Statement:
The mission of the ACSU-CRT is to assist Schools and Universities with Support and Education in the event of a crisis, and to Promote and Facilitate the Activities, Operation and Training's for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) in the New York State Adirondack Community and surrounding areas.

Critical Incidents:

Critical Incidents are events that have the potential to create significant human distress and can overwhelm one's usual coping mechanisms. The following are some examples of critical incidents that may require School and University CISM services:

• Accident involving a student, teacher, staff member or parent
• Suicide, homicide, substance overdose
• Death of a student, teacher, staff member or parent
• Severe violence, gang activities, assault on student, teacher, or staff member
• Hostage situation, terrorist activities, sniper attack
• School fire, chemical spill, or natural disasters

Types of Interventions:

Pre-crisis Education and Prevention, Individual Crisis Intervention, Demobilizations, Staff Consultations, Crisis Management Briefings, Defusings, Debriefings, Family& Pastoral CISM, Referral and Follow-up Services

 

Team Membership:

Team composed of professional Administrators, Educators, Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Staff, Mental Health Professionals, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, School Nurses, School Social Workers, Ambulance Corps, EMT's, Search and Rescue Teams, Clergy, and EAP Coordinators. All team members are ICISF trained in School crisis Response and adhere to a strict code of Professional ethics.
