Traumatic incidents are unplanned events which are above and
beyond our normal coping mechanisms. These incidents overwhelm
us and hinder our ability to function normally. DHA VAP services
provide timely interventions designed to mitigate the traumatic
damage, returning people to normal functioning.
DHA will provide services to victims, family members/survivors
who have been seriously injured or killed in accidents, victims
of personal assaults, and work related injuries.
All DHA staff are certified in crisis intervention techniques
and will provide confidential services designed to mitigate the
effects of traumatic incidents. Individual, family, and group
interventions, on/off site assistance, debriefings, defusings,
assessments, referrals and follow-ups, are provided, when required.
Referrals will be made to DHA VAP through
the following networks: local police departments, emergency service
personnel, first
responders, EMT’s, fire fighters, family members, employers,
co-workers, funeral homes, Churches, and self referrals.
Services provided by DHA Victim Assistance Program will be paid
for through personal donations to the program.
