Are you doing things now that predict whether you will be admitted to a nursing
home someday?
Many people know that lifestyle choices
such as smoking, obesity, and even inactivity can contribute to the
risk of disease, hospitalization,
and even death.
Other risk factors include elevated blood
pressure, elevated cholesterol levels, and diabetes. Research shows
that these lifestyle factors
also can significantly predict the chances of being admitted to a nursing
home later in life.
Modifying your lifestyle, even in middle
age, may reduce the
risk of nursing home admission.
