Critical
Incidents are events that have the potential to create
significant human distress and can overwhelm one's usual coping
mechanisms.
The Following are some examples of critical incidents
that may require School and University CISM Services: 1 Accident
involving a Student, Teacher, Staff member or Parent
1 Suicide,
Homicide, Substance Overdose 1 Death of a Student,
Teacher, Staff member or Parent
Severe violence, Gang activities, Assault on Teachers, Students,
and Staff
Hostage situation, Terrorist activities, Sniper attack
School fire, Chemical spill, or Natural disasters
Who
Should Attend:
School Superintendents, Board
Members, Teachers, Guidance Counselors, State Emergency Management
Personnel, Support Staff, Social Workers, Nurses, Dispatchers,
Bus Drivers, Law Enforcement Personnel, Firefighters, Search
and Rescue Teams, Physicians, Psychologists, and EAP's.
